* Do you know somone who is not sure where they are going when they die?* Do you know someon who has chosen to live a life apart from God?* Do you know someone who would like an answer to the question, "What is the purpose of my life?" Could you be this person? If so, join us on the second Wednesday of every month as we watch a really great movie produced by "Way of the Master" and talk about how to answer these and many other questions. Our Mission and Statement of Faith 150,000 people die every 24 hours—most without the Savior. We are deeply concerned that so few Christians reach out to the lost. Statistics show that this is as low as 5%. One of the reasons for this is that many don’t feel equipped. As a ministry, our sole purpose is to inspire and equip Christians—to teach them how to share the gospel simply, effectively, biblically . . . the way Jesus did. “The Way of the Master” is non-denominational. We believe and preach that the Bible is the Word of God, and that Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh, crucified for the sin of the world, and that He rose again on the third day. We believe and teach that salvation is by grace, through faith, and not of works.

It started as a dream of Kim Wigington and grew to be a dream of the entire congregation of Northwest. Now the dream continues!

Brookwood Christian Language School (formerly The Language School at Northwest) has become an independent para-church school and will be moving into new facilities off campus in 2008. As part of this transition from child to growing, independent ministry, the faculty and staff of Brookwood have established a new website : brookwoodchristian.com.

Take a look at their new look and keep them in your prayers. Brookwood focuses on kids with learning disabilities from 1st to 12th grades using low teacher to student ratios to achieve wonderful results.

We are more than community minded about evangelism but it all starts from home. We disciple people who then go out into the community, the States and the World sharing the Good News. The missionaries from Northwest are world renowned and trained using The Perfect Trip(tm) Training System. Join us as we go out into the world sharing Christ. Each year we focus our people's efforts in four areas taking all types of skills to evangelistic missionaries and people who need to hear about Jesus.

Local Focus - Angel Food Ministries
Distributing low cost food to our community in cooperation with 8 other churches. Contact Jean Bramlett or the local page for local information. Visit Angel Foods website for more program information.

States Focus - Pathfinders, Tennessee
Pathfinders helps teens find their purpose, plan and direction with their Lord. This ministry supports many churches in the Tri-City area of Northeast Tennesse and around the country.

World Focus - NICARAGUA Partnership
Working with a sister-church in Esteli, Nicaragua, the Nicaraguan Baptist Convention and Village Minisitries, our missionaries are drilling wells, teaching pastors, evangelizing and building to support missionaries and established churches. Contact Susan Cochran for involvement information.

Partner Focus - Wellspring of LIfe Ministries & Haiti
Bob and Joyce Coder help communities and pastor's around the world by drilling wells to create a contact and community outreach for local pastors and then support the evangelistic work through pastor coaching, church training and evangelism. Visit their website for more information or to sign up for a newsletter.

Northwest's Haitian Outreach is currently working with Bob and Joyce. Check the information on the Outreach at their group page.

Bryan Fox - Missions - Meet our Staff

Having been called to ministry and missions some five years ago, Bryan, his wife Kelly and thier boys joined Northwest Church in 2005. As God led them off the field of a mission campus in Haiti, he distinctly led the then current Mission Director to offer Bryan his job. With the full support and confidence of a "God sized" event, Bryan and Kelly relocated to the Altanta area and began directing Northwest's Mission Efforts and serving on the Board of Christ Mission International.

No Condemnation Guarantee - Who We Are

There is no other place (though there should be) that offers a written No Condemnation Guarantee. We are serious about this : we really love people and really dislike gossip and condemnation.

We do not condone sin but we do not condemn the sinner. Sure, as we teach the Bible verse by verse, people will encounter conviction along with encouragement. Conviction by God's Spirit and Word is healthy and spurs us to be right with God.

However, Jesus did not come to condemn the world but to save it and deliver it to its new condition of righteousness. That is our goal as well. We have all sinned and are all forgiven. We want everyone to experience that same love and forgiveness. Nothing less will do.

Guaranteed - you will not be condemned here.

What Denomination Are You People? - Who We Are

Now there is a repetitive question! Northwest Church was founded as a church in partnership with the Southern Baptist Convention and remains a partner to this day. A few years ago, the church was moved by the Spirit of God to remove the "Baptist" from the name to better reflect the goal of Christ at Northwest. We do not seek to make "Baptists" but rather to introduce people to Christ, the one and only Son of the One and Only God. We do not seek to make "Baptists" but rather to teach Biblical doctrine that will strengthen and set believers free in Christ. With that said, Southern Baptist Doctrine is solid and consistent with mainline, evangelical, Christ focused Biblical doctrine. The Convention has by far the most successful support and deployment systems to enable missionaries around the world to share the Gospel of Christ. Our allegiance is to Christ, God, the Spirit and the Bible as it is God's revealed Words to Us. Our affiliation is Southern Baptist because of the many great works of the partnership and the stable consistent doctrine.

Not Because We Have To : Because We Want To - Who We Are

There is no doubt that this wonderful, transparent, real and sincere group of believers are here because they want to be here. We want to learn. We want to worship. We want to serve. We want to be friends. We want to give. We want to have fun.
If that is what you want - you have found a perfect match! Christ is Good! is not just a slogan for us : it is TRUTH. Christianity should be fun, real and deep. People should grow and find a better life. That is what we do here.It is comfortable and challenging. We are simply people pursuing God.

Doug Burrier - Lead Pastor - Meet our Staff

Doug and his family have served with the people of Northwest Church for 15 years. Doug has been the senior Campus Pastor for 6 years and received the vision for Christ Mission in January 2003. He is an experience and application based teacher with a passion for clarity and commitment to God's Word. Doug wants to live to be 120 years old and go to meet the Lord face to face after preaching on his birthday (he says that by 110 he might actually be a somewhat accomplished teacher). He is blessed to publish a daily web article on leadership and to teach people weekly. Doug is a missionary in his own country and champions the people of Northwest to serve others as they follow God. He is often quoted as he quotes the book of James, "You show me your faith without works and I will show you my faith by my works."

A covenant is a sacred promise that results in obligation. As people are led by God to join this ministry of His, they too make this covenant to Him and His family members at Northwest.Having received Christ as my Lord and Savior and been baptized as a symbol of my salvation, and being in agreement with the Northwest’s statements, strategy, and structure, I feel led by the Holy Spirit to unite with the Northwest church family. In doing so, I joyfully commit myself to God and the other members to do the following:I will protect the unity and testimony of my churchby acting in love toward other members and the communityby refusing to gossip and rejecting any divisionby living in a Christ-like mannerby following the leaders and being a team playerI will partner with the members for the success of my churchby giving regularly in obedience to scriptureby discovering my gifts and talentsby being trained to serve by my leadersby applying my gifts and talents in a ministry positionI will participate in the ministry of my churchby attending faithfullyby preparing my heart for worship and joining in worshipby praying for its health and growthby involving those who visitI will promote the ministry of my churchby sharing the Gospel with the communityby being a solid Christian for the whole communityby inviting my friends and the communityby investing in the planning and dreaming process

Founding Truths of Our Faith - What We Believe

There is only one living and true God who reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit each with distinct personal attributes but without division of nature, essence, or being. The Bible is the accurate and authoritative record of God’s revelation of Himself to man through divinely inspired writers.Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on a cross for our redemption, was bodily resurrected, ascended to heaven where He is the one mediator for reconciliation between God and man, and that He will return to earth in power and glory. The Holy Spirit is the eternal Spirit of God who performs the miracle of new birth in believers, guides believers by indwelling them, and enables them to live godly lives.Man was created in the image of God but was alienated from God because of sin. Man can be reconciled to God, through salvation by faith in Christ.Salvation is the forgiveness of all sin and redemption received by man through repentance from sin, faith in Jesus Christ and confession of Him as Lord. Turning away from sin, or repenting, and confessing Christ through faith, results in the regeneration of the whole man who is then justified and graciously acquitted of all penalties of sin because of the principles of Christ’s righteousness.Believers are capable, through the empowering of the Spirit, and obligated to attend to and obey God’s commands and standards of holy living. All true believers endure to the end and will never fall away from the miraculous state of grace and redemption provided by God through Jesus, though sin might impair their relationship with God and bring temporal judgment upon them.
